November 2024, Local Municipal Election

The filing period for Murrieta City Council opened Monday, July 15, and closes on Friday, August 9. Two City Council seats are open in the General Municipal Election, which takes place on November 5, 2024. The two open seats represent Districts 3 and 4. Find your district here.

Candidates must file nomination documents for office by 5 p.m. on August 9. To pull nomination documents, visit the City Clerk Department during normal business hours, appointments are highly encouraged. If an incumbent is not running for re-election and does not file papers by the August 9 deadline, the deadline extends to Wednesday, August 14, 5 p.m. Interested in the Potential Candidate List? To qualify, a candidate must live in Murrieta within the eligible district and be registered to vote. No fee is required to run for City Council; however, candidates can submit a Candidate's Statement for the voter information pamphlet with a $600 deposit. Additional printing costs may apply.
