Italy’s support for efforts to reach a Gaza ceasefire agreement

Italy supports the efforts by the United States, Egypt and Qatar to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages, in line with United Nations Security Council resolution 2735.

A ceasefire in Gaza is becoming increasingly urgent to bring an end to the suffering of the civilian population, guarantee the necessary humanitarian aid and encourage de-escalation at regional level.

Italy urges all parties to the conflict to take up the mediators' invitation, without further delay, to resume negotiations in Doha on 15 August with the aim of finalising an agreement.
