Radford University in Roanoke announces inaugural Tartan 5k: A Twilight Run

Radford University is proud to announce the inaugural Tartan 5K: A Twilight Run. This glow run will take place Sept. 20 at the Tinker Creek Greenway in Fallon Park, following a scenic path along the Roanoke River. The race kicks off at 6:15 p.m. The event is organized by Radford University Student Affairs in Roanoke and is co-hosted by RunAbout Sports. The event is being timed by Mountain Junkies.

"We're so excited to host the inaugural Tartan 5K: A Twilight Run," said Elizabeth Costa, associate director for Student Engagement and member of the 5K planning committee. "Roanoke is the home of Radford University Carilion, many Highlander alumni and a vibrant running community, making it the perfect location for this race. And, as Roanoke's only glow run this year, we hope people come out and have fun with it! This event is welcoming to runners, walkers, families, and dogs, so no matter your fitness level, we'd love to see you there!"

Participants are encouraged to bring their families. Whether you choose to run in a kilt, scrubs or your favorite running gear, every step you take will contribute to a healthier, happier you and a stronger community.

  • Thursday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 - 6 p.m. at RunAbout Sports (3635 Franklin Road, Roanoke)
  • No race-day packet pickup available

• Finisher medal
• Race t-shirt (must register by Aug. 20 to receive a shirt)
