Lane Closure Eastbound State Route 84 for Overnight Paving Work, Woodside and Redwood City

Monday to Friday 6:00 PM - 5:00 AM

San Mateo County - Caltrans has begun paving work on eastbound State Route 84 (SR-84). One lane of eastbound SR-84 will be closed to facilitate a safe work area and for equipment. Initial work will include grinding and paving the outside shoulders to ensure a safe area for cyclists and pedestrians walking across the intersections with side streets. Once the shoulders are paved, the contractor will begin work on the roadway of eastbound 84 from 280 to 101.

Please note that the traveling public may experience segments of rough surfaces for several days as the paving operation continues.

Shoulder work of eastbound SR-84 has been completed from I-280 to Santa Clara Ave. Shoulder work up to US-101 is scheduled to be completed by August 2.

Work hours - Monday through Friday 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

  • Eastbound SR-84 Shoulder Work: July 28 - August 2, from I-280 to US-101
  • Westbound SR-84 Shoulder Work: August 4 - August 8, from US-101 to I-280

Caltrans understands this highway work may impact the daily commute for residents who live near Woodside and Redwood City. Crews will assist local residents with access as needed. Please plan ahead for possible delays and to consider alternate routes.

The public is advised to expect construction noise from the grinding and paving operations as the work moves along SR-84.
