FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROSEVILLE - Caltrans is alerting motorists about an upcoming 55-hour closure of the Riverside Avenue loop on-ramp along westbound Interstate 80 (I-80) as part of the $46.1 million Auxiliary Lane and Fifth Lane Project.
The on-ramp is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, August 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, August 5. Motorists looking to enter the highway heading north on Auburn Boulevard/Riverside Avenue will detour east on Orlando Avenue, turn left onto Cirby Way and make another left back onto Riverside Avenue to access the slip on-ramp to westbound I-80.
During this time crews will excavate the roadway, install new lighting and repave the ramp to accommodate the new fifth lane. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.
Ghilotti Construction Company, Inc. of Santa Rosa is the prime contractor. The project is expected to be completed spring 2025. At that time, the interstate will have an auxiliary lane on eastbound I-80 between State Route 65 and Rocklin Road and include a two-lane off-ramp. A fifth lane will be constructed on westbound I-80 between Douglas Boulevard and Riverside Avenue and include reconfiguring the Douglas off-ramp from two lanes to one lane.

The project includes $11.5 million in funding from Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually, shared equally between state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects partially funded by SB 1. Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.

The department will issue construction updates on X @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans' QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play.
