On July 2, 2024, the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit arrested 2 individuals for possession of a large quantity of narcotics in the town of Taghkanic.

At approximately 7:20 p.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle stop of a 2017 Ford Escape northbound on the Taconic State Parkway for violations of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation determined the operator, Krista A. Chadwell, age 37, and passenger, Jerome Grandson, age 36, both of Pittsfield, MA, were in possession of approximately 28.4 grams of cocaine, 9.1 grams of heroin, and over $2,300 of U.S. Currency.

Both suspects were arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3^rd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3^rd degree with Intent to Sell, both class B felonies, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4^th degree, a class C felony, Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E felony, and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2^nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Chadwell and Grandson were arraigned before the town of Claverack Court and released on their own recognizance to reappear before the Taghkanic Court at a future date.
