Nudura ICF Products Win Industry Awards for Energy-Efficient Construction

Nudura, part of the Tremco Construction Products Group, has made energy savings-and in turn, cost savings-a reality for buildings around the world with its Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs). As the world focuses on mitigating the impacts of severe weather brought on by climate change, Nudura ICFs offer extreme durability, energy efficiency and cost savings for builders and their end users.

ICFs are wall systems designed to hold fresh concrete that remain in place permanently to provide insulation for a structure. When Divi Resorts sought to build a $20 million addition to its luxury Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in Sint Maarten, the company outlined a specific set of criteria. First, the buildings had to be designed for seismic and hurricane-wind loads to withstand potential natural disasters in the Caribbean. Divi Resorts also wanted to optimize the building's energy usage, since energy costs are significantly higher on the island. Lastly, the resort needed to remain open during construction.

Nudura ICFs provided the installation efficiency, resiliency and sustainability that allowed the construction of the three, four-story buildings to finish ahead of schedule. All exterior and most interior walls were constructed using ICFs to maximize energy efficiency and reduce sound travel. The project, a 2024 ICF Builder award winner, was the first large-scale ICF project on the island.

Energy efficiency also drove the Canterbury Woods Performing Arts Center in Williamsville, New York, to turn to Nudura ICFs for its new construction. A community staple for 25 years, the arts center's goal was to build a 13,000-square-foot venue for 250 guests to enjoy live entertainment. The unique design features no straight walls or conventional corners, which required custom-made Nudura curved ICF blocks for the exterior load-bearing walls. The ICFs also allowed for more effective acoustics for the performing arts space so that exterior noise shouldn't disturb audiences.

Finished in 2023, the Canterbury Woods Performing Arts Center is the largest ICF structure built with primarily radius walls in the state of New York. For its unique design, the center won the 2024 People's Choice Award from ICF Builder.
