Sioux City Mental Health Counselor Arrested for Fraudulent Billing Insurance and Medicaid

The Iowa Insurance Division's Fraud Bureau and the Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit conducted a joint investigation regarding Sioux City Mental Health Counselor Amy Hecht. It is alleged that Hecht provided false medical codes on patient's bills to provide additional reimbursement to which she was not entitled.

Hecht has been charged with twelve counts of Fraudulent Submission (Class D Felony), one count of Theft 2nd (Class D Felony), Fraudulent Practice in the 3rd degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor), and tampering with records. Hecht was arrested on September 9, 2024 and was released on bond.
