NEWS RELEASE

Stanislaus County

55-Hour, Full Closure of Southbound Interstate 5 at Ingram Creek Road in Westley

Stanislaus County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform a 55-hour, full closure of southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) at Ingram Creek Road in Westley to reconstruct the aging bridge deck.

The closure will occur from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, until 4:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024. Ingram Creek Road will also be closed under I-5. A detour is required for southbound motorists with expected delays of 30 minutes or more.

Detour Information:

  • Travelers on Southbound I-5 exit southbound State Route 33 > southbound Rogers Road > westbound Sperry Ave. > return to southbound I-5
  • Travelers on Eastbound I-580 continue to southbound I-5 > diverted off I-5 at Ingram Creek Road, where the on and offramps will be used as a single lane.

Delays are also expected on westbound SR-132; motorists are advised to use SR-120 as an alternate route. Caltrans will utilize flaggers and portable message signs to alert motorists of the detours and delays.

The full closure is essential for the safety of our crews and the traveling public and to ensure proper concrete curing for the highest quality result. In the weeks leading up to the full closure, crews will perform nighttime preparation requiring one-way traffic control on Ingram Creek Road from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, equipment and materials availability, and construction-related issues. The public will be notified if the closure must be rescheduled.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
