Assault With A Knife In Somers

PRESS RELEASE

On July 17, 2024, the New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested Andres Mendoza Gomez, age 47, of Somers, NY, for Assault in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, Menacing in the 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, both class A misdemeanors.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to a report of two people fighting at a residence in Somers. Upon arrival the victim was found injured outside and the suspect barricaded inside. The suspect, later identified as Mendoza Gomez, was extricated from the residence without injury. Investigation determined he attacked the victim with a knife causing multiple lacerations.

The victim was taken to Westchester Medical for treatment as well as Mendoza Gomez who was transported for evaluation. Following Mendoza Gomez's release, he was arrested and brought to Somers Court for arraignment where the Honorable Judge McDermott remanded Mendoza Gomez to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $2,500 bond.
