WORKING VISIT OF THE PRIME MINISTER TO THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA TO ATTEND THE INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA 19 - 20 OCTOBER 2024

Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake a working visit to Indonesia from 19 to 20 October 2024 at the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to attend the Inauguration Ceremony of Prabowo Subianto as the eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as his Vice-President.

The ceremony will take place at the People's Consultative Assembly (Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat - MPR) on 20 October 2024.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Chief Minister of Sabah Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, as well as senior officials from the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the new President.

President Prabowo Subianto succeeds Joko Widodo, who served as the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia for two terms (2014-2019 and 2019-2024).

The Government of Malaysia greatly appreciates the immense contributions and pivotal role played by President Joko Widodo, which have further solidified bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia. The Government of Malaysia is also committed to continuing the close ties between the two countries under the new administration of President Prabowo Subianto.

The visit signifies the special bilateral ties between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia, rooted on close cooperation in a myriad of mutually-beneficial areas.

In 2023, Indonesia ranked as Malaysia's seventh-largest trading partner worldwide and third-largest within ASEAN, with total trade reaching USD24.39 billion (RM111.21 billion).
