The Jyväskylä Sinfonia's Autumn Season Begins - Lorenzo Passerini Takes the Helm with a Burst of New Ideas

Radiant, passionate, fresh, and energetic - when describing Lorenzo Passerini, who is starting as the chief conductor of Jyväskylä Sinfonia this autumn season, adjectives seem insufficient. The 33-year-old Italian conductor has envisioned a strong artistic development for the orchestra, diverse repertoires, and drama-filled concert experiences for his three-year tenure.

For his inaugural concert, Passerini has chosen the theme of Ludwig van Beethoven, a composer he deeply admires, with two of Beethoven's works featured during the evening. The concert's soloist, Italian pianist Saskia Giorgini, will perform Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto, also known as the Emperor Concerto. Additionally, Beethoven's exuberantly festive Symphony No. 7 will be performed. The "Benvenuto, Lorenzo!" concert will take place on Thursday, September 12, at Paviljonki.

Verneri Pohjola to Perform Kaija Saariaho's Final Work HUSH

Kaija Saariaho's last composition, the trumpet concerto HUSH, will be performed exclusively in Finland this year by Jyväskylä Sinfonia under the direction of Lorenzo Passerini on Thursday, September 19. The piece had its world premiere at the Helsinki Festival in August 2023, performed by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conductor Susanna Mälkki, and trumpeter Verneri Pohjola. Pohjola, one of Finland's top trumpeters, will bring this unique work to Jyväskylä.

The same concert will also feature Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, one of Passerini's all-time favorite compositions.

Season and Series Ticket Options for Everyone

Concertgoers have a variety of ticket packages to choose from, ensuring that everyone can find the one that suits them best. If you want to attend all the symphony concerts of the season, the Tutti Season Ticket is the best choice, including eight concerts during the autumn. The Tutti Season Ticket also offers various benefits, both on concert evenings and through partnerships, including discounts at restaurants, hotels, and museums in Jyväskylä.

If you are interested in the symphony concerts but feel that a season ticket is too big a commitment, the newly launched Trio Series Ticket is a great option. With the Trio Series Ticket, you can select three symphony concerts of your choice and repurchase it later in the season after your previous concerts are over. You can start the Trio Series with the opening concert on September 12, and add to it the magnificent HUSH concert (September 19) and the principal guest conductor Okko Kamu's concert (October 2), for example.

If more entertaining concerts are more to your liking, the Quartet Series Ticket is a perfect match. The Quartet Series includes three special concerts during the autumn (PartyTuure on September 28, Folkfoniaa on October 10, and Swinging Christmas on November 30) plus the epic Kullervo by Jean Sibelius on October 24 as a bonus.

By purchasing a season or series ticket, you get concert tickets at a lower price than single tickets, and you'll have tickets for several enchanting concert evenings all in one purchase.
