1. Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission?

Serving on a board/committee/commission is a great way to connect with others, grow as an individual, and be impactful within your community while you learn about its inner workings - all at the same time!

2. What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?

I firmly believe adequate shelter is a fundamental human right! I serve on the Citizens Advisory Committee because my personal experiences lend a unique perspective toward the work being done to improve the quality and affordability of housing for low-and moderate-income families within the City of Durham. I enjoy serving as a piece to the overall puzzle for meeting the neighborhood stabilization and revitalization needs of Durham and its citizens.

3. What is your favorite part about living in Durham?

My love of travel has allowed me the opportunity to visit many cities. Few can boast the energy Durham possesses, or the passion of its citizens! Our city's magnetism is undeniable...and quite familiar to a transplant from Detroit like me. My favorite part about living in Durham is the city's eclectic offerings of food/music/the arts, its grit, and the pride of our residents!
