Public invited to UDO District Community Meetings

NEWTON COUNTY, GA - Newton County is hosting a series of community meetings to gather input in the update of its Unified Development Ordinance.

The County's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) combines land use regulations such as zoning, subdivision regulations and design guidelines into a single document to bring the Comprehensive Plan to life.

In July, the County began working with consultants Kendig Keast to review and analyze its plans. Step two of the process is public outreach, which features information from throughout the community.

Community meetings will be held in each district from Sept. 18 through Oct. 3. Newton County residents are invited to participate in the community meetings, regardless of the district. All meetings begin at 6 p.m. in the following locations:

  • District 1 - Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Eastridge Community Church of Covington, 14200 Hwy 36 Covington Ga
  • District 2 - Thursday, Sept. 30 at Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Hwy 212, Covington Ga
  • District 3 - Wednesday, Sept. 18 at West Side Precinct, 65 Mt. Tabor Rd. Covington Ga
  • District 4 - Monday, Sept. 25 at Spring Hill Park, 757 Lower River Road, Covington Ga
