City of St. Petersburg Introduces Free Tech Classes for Teens

September 16, 2024 - The City of St. Petersburg is introducing a new series of free technology classes for teens this fall. Through the Parks and Recreation Department's Teen Arts, Sports, and Cultural Opportunities (TASCO) Program, these classes are designed to provide essential digital and media skills to local youth.

Starting this month, teens in grades 6 through 12 are invited to explore a variety of tech-focused classes at the TASCO Center for Teen Technology, 1320 5th St. N. The classes will cover topics ranging from photography and filmmaking to 3D printing to robotics.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: September 23, 2024

  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

  • Location: TASCO Center for Teen Technology, 1320 5th St. N

  • Cost: Free

Class Offerings:

  • Mondays: Intro to Photography & Editing - Learn the fundamentals of photography and photo editing techniques.

  • Tuesdays: Intro to Vex Robotics - Dive into to engineering and coding robots.

  • Wednesdays: Intro to Resin 3D Printing - Design and print your own intricate 3D creations.

  • Thursdays: Stop Motion Filmmaking - Create captivating movies frame by frame.
