Suspect Arrested After a Person with a Knife Call in Dorchester

At about 12:31 AM, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested Reginald Mells, 44, of Boston, for assault with a dangerous weapon.

Officers responded to the area of 2261 Dorchester Avenue for a report of a person with a knife. Upon arrival, officers were provided a description of the suspect and that he walked down the street around the corner. Officers were able to locate the suspect on Richmond Street, and placed him into handcuffs. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the suspect and recovered a knife from his right pant pocket.

Officers were advised that the suspect was inside the establishment, and was asked to leave. As the suspect was being escorted out, he turned around and pulled out a knife in a threatening manner.

Mells was placed under arrest and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
