FINAL CHANCE FOR WEDDIN INTERNET SUBSIDY

Weddin residents are reminded that the Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) Satellite Internet Subsidy Program is coming to an end on 30 June 2024. The program allows all eligible residents with a LEO satellite internet connection to apply for subsidy, irrespective of when they acquired their internet connection. Residents may be more familiar with LEO Satellite Internet technology under its commercial name of Starlink. Residents can now acquire a LEO satellite internet connection directly from Telstra and Starlink.

The scope of the subsidy remains unchanged, all eligible residents can apply to the program and receive a subsidy of up to $1500, to cover costs associated with the satellite dish, hardware such as router, adapter, mounts and cables and associated installation costs. The program will end on 30 June 2024. No further extensions will be provided and no late applications will be accepted.

Mayor Craig Bembrick stated "There is still funding available and I encourage anyone thinking about putting in an application to jump to it before the program wraps up at the end of June.I am proud that Council has been able to deliver this innovative project that makes a real difference to residents. To date, 99% of applications have been successful and 72% of applications have been from residents who already had a Starlink connection when the program opened."
