Yaw, Pickett: Over $200,000 in Conservation and Recreation Funding Awarded in Bradford County

HARRISBURG -State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Tina Pickett (R-110) today announced $216,200 has been awarded to French Azilum, Inc., in Bradford County by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2).

Funding will be used for the continued development of the French Azilum historic site along the Susquehanna River in Asylum Township. Improvements will include the renovation of a boat launch, construction of a comfort station, pedestrian walkways, a parking area, ADA access and landscaping.

"The project at the historic French Azilum will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on recreational opportunities," Yaw said. "I am pleased to see this important investment in Bradford County."

"This funding will go toward improvements to an easily accessible Susquehanna River ramp and other amenities at one of Bradford County's premier attractions," Pickett said. "Dedicated volunteers help to maintain the French Azilum, which draws visitors and residents alike who seek to learn and enjoy local history."

The C2P2 is funded with a variety of state and federal funding sources, including the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), which includes Key-Community and Key-Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF); the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF); Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT - federal source); Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA); and the ATV Restricted Management Account Fund (ATV).
