Des Moines Parks Launch Summer Bucket List Challenge to Celebrate Community During National Parks and Recreation Month

Des Moines, Iowa- Monday, July 1, 2024 -Des Moines Parks and Recreation launches the Bucket List Challenge as part of the city's celebration of July's National Park and Recreation Month. The contest aims to encourage residents to explore and appreciate the city's diverse park destinations which they belong to while giving them a chance to win a $500 gift card to Scheels.

The Bucket List Challenge is a free photo submission contest that invites residents to embark on an adventure through 16 destinations spread across the city. Participants are encouraged to capture their memorable moments at these locations and submit photos through July 31 for a chance to win.

"Last year's challenge was such a success that we are thrilled to bring back this fun, interactive way to discover the city's many memorable parks and fantastic trails," said Jenny Richmond, Assistant Director of Des Moines Parks and Recreation. "Everyone can participate, and everyone belongs - and not just in July. The Bucket List Challenge showcases the award-winning built and natural places that make Des Moines special and welcoming year-round. And, whether you're seeking a restorative walk in a woodland or a fun playground and sprayground for an exciting day in the park, there is a perfect location ready for you to explore."

Des Moines Parks and Recreation encourages all residents, from avid adventurers to casual park-goers, to take part in the Bucket List Challenge.
