Contact Information

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The City of Fort Collins Utilities and Streets departments will be conducting work to improve stormwater and pavement infrastructure on the 100 block of W. Mulberry St., just west of S. College Avenue, beginning July 8. The work will be completed in two phases:

  • Phase 1: Improving stormwater management beneath Mulberry St. to reduce urban flooding during significant rains
  • Phase 2: Completing asphalt patching, milling and overlay to repave the street following stormwater management improvements

The work will have the following impacts on traffic:

  • From Monday, July 8 - Friday, July 19 these road closures and lane reductions will be in place:
    • Eastbound Mulberry St. will be closed to vehicle traffic between S. College Ave. and S. Mason St.
    • Westbound Mulberry St. will be reduced from two lanes to one between S. Mason St. and S. College Ave.
    • Southbound College Ave. will be reduced from two lanes to one between Mulberry St. and Myrtle St.
    • Crosswalk on west side of S. College Ave. at Mulberry St. will be closed. Pedestrians may follow detour signs.
  • From Monday, July 22 - Friday, July 26 these road closures and lane reductions will be in place:
    • Eastbound Mulberry St. will be closed to vehicle traffic between S. Mason St. and S. College Ave. After the eastbound closure work is complete, westbound Mulberry St. will be closed to vehicle traffic between S. College Ave. and S. Mason St.
    • The right turn lane from southbound S. College Ave. to W. Mulberry St. will be closed.

Areas near downtown Fort Collins are at risk for urban flooding, including the intersection of Mulberry St. and College Ave., which has experienced urban flooding during periods of intense rainfall. The City's Stormwater Utility has been working to address stormwater improvement needs for more than four decades, including work related to the Downtown Stormwater Improvement Plan (DSIP).
