SPECIAL VISIT OF THE GRAND IMAM OF AL-AZHAR AL-SHARIF

TO MALAYSIA

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Prof. Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Ahmad At-Tayyeb will undertake a Special Visit to Malaysia from 2 to 5 July 2024 at the invitation of Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

During his visit, the Grand Imam will meet with the Prime Minister at Seri Perdana, where both are expected to take stock and discuss the enhancement of cooperation between Malaysia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, specifically in Islamic affairs and education. The Grand Imam will also deliver a talk at the "Majlis Ilmu MADANI: Distinguished Speaker Series" at Seri Perdana.

As a gesture of appreciation for his contributions to Islamic thought and development, the Grand Imam will be conferred an honorary doctorate by Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) at a special ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.

The visit of the Grand Imam, whose rank is equivalent to that of a Prime Minister under the Egyptian Constitution, marks another milestone in the relations between Malaysia and the Arab Republic of Egypt. It also serves as a testament to the strong linkages and dynamic collaboration between the two countries in building a progressive and dynamic Muslim Ummah.
