Rooseveltown male arrested for strangulation 2nd and assault 3rd

On September 18, 2024, State Police members arrested Nathan Benedict, age 45, of Rooseveltown, NY for strangulation 2nd, and assault 3rd.

On September 18, 2024, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Troopers responded to State Route 37 in the town of Fort Covington for an assault complaint. An investigation determined Benedict and the victim were involved in a verbal argument, which led to physical when Benedict struck the victim and then placed his hands around the victim's throat, causing the victim not to be able to breathe. Benedict stopped choking the victim and left.

Troopers located Benedict in bushes placed him in custody, and transported him to SP Malone for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Bombay Court, where he was released under the supervision of probation.
