MTA Announces Public Webinars on Congestion Relief Zone Tolling to be Held Starting Dec. 4

Public Encouraged to View Webinars and Submit Questions on Upcoming Tolling Plan

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced it will host seven public webinars during the first three weeks of December where people can learn all the facts and features of the Congestion Relief Zone.

The webinars will explain how the Congestion Relief Zone works, how the program benefits the region, discounts and exemptions, and what people need to know before tolling begins on Sunday, Jan. 5.

The 60-minute webinars will feature a 30-minute presentation on the Congestion Relief Zone, followed by a Q&A session. There will be one public webinar with a focus on the Individual Disability Exemption Plan (IDEP) and another on the Low-Income Discount Plan (LIDP).

The eight public webinars will take place as follows:

• Individual Disability Exemption Plan Webinar: Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• General Webinar: Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Low-Income Discount Plan Webinar: Thursday, Dec. 5, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
• General Webinar: Friday, Dec. 6, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• General Webinar: Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 6 p.m.to 7 p.m.
• General Webinar: Thursday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• General Webinar: Monday, Dec. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• General Webinar: Thursday, Dec. 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Participants must register online prior to the start of the session(s) they wish to attend.

Participants are invited to submit questions in advance of the webinars through the registration link.

For those who require language assistance, a translated video of the webinar presentation will be made available online in December.

Starting on Jan. 5, 2025, vehicles will be tolled to enter the Congestion Relief Zone in Manhattan-local streets and avenues at or below 60th Street. The toll amount will depend on the type of vehicle, time of day, whether any crossing credits apply, and the method of payment. Learn more about toll rates at congestionreliefzone.mta.info/tolling.

Revenue generated by Congestion Relief Zone tolling will fund some of the region's most important transit capital projects, including accessibility improvements at more than 20 stations, modern signal systems on segments of the ​​and ​​​​ lines for over 1.5 million daily riders, hundreds of new electric buses, the Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 extension to East Harlem and other critical projects that keep our system in good working condition, such as structural repairs, power system improvements and upgrades to bus depots.
