Wesley A. Benbow, M.B.A., has been announced as the new senior vice president and chief financial officer at Baylor College of Medicine, effective Dec. 1. Benbow joins Baylor from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, where he served as the executive dean for administration and finance since 2015.

"Wes will be a great asset to the College with his significant experience in academic medicine," said Dr. Paul Klotman, president, CEO and executive dean of Baylor. "He is aligned with our strategic vision for the future and understands the importance of all of our mission areas, as well as our plans for growth."

Prior to joining Dartmouth, Benbow served as Harvard Medical School's interim executive dean for administration and as its CFO. These most recent experiences in higher education build upon a 15-plus year career in healthcare finance, where he served as the vice president of finance and facilities for the Joslin Diabetes Center, among other financial leadership and healthcare consulting roles.

Benbow has been an active member of several national professional organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the National Council of University Research Administrators. He has also served on and chaired committees for the American Association of Medical Colleges. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Fairfield University and an M.B.A. from Quinnipiac University, both in Connecticut.

"I'm very excited to join the outstanding leadership team at Baylor College of Medicine and am hopeful that my cumulative leadership experiences in academic medicine will help provide robust support to Baylor's research, education and clinical missions," said Benbow.
