Cultivating a Culture of Overall Health in 2023

Published on August 28, 2024

2023 was an eventful year for the Hartford Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)!

Our programs successfully serve residents by offering a wide range of services to promote health and well-being.

Programs like "Hartbeat in Motion" offer free exercise classes and online instructional video resources can be found on the HHS website www.healthyhartford.com.

Our "Healthy Recipes" cookbook and video cooking series can also be found at the website. Additionally, we provide valuable information on chronic disease prevention and treatment, to keep Hartford residents informed and healthy. We support and encourage participation in community programs and events such as our "Welcome Home" seminars for first time home buyers, and daily activities at our senior centers.

Our commitment to COVID-19 and disease prevention remains steadfast by offering drive-through COVID testing services and vaccinations at our onsite clinic. Through the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and our Maternal and Infant Outreach Program (MIOP), we help ensure that Hartford families thrive. DHHS is dedicated to supporting residents through every stage of life.

HHS director Ebony Shaheed-Jackson states: "Our staff takes pride in contributing to the health and safety of our community. Together, we can make our city even more vibrant and thriving! Visit our website at www.healthyhartford.com."
