A Message from the President: Welcome to the 2024-2025 Academic Year

Today, we welcome thousands of faculty, staff and students to campus to start the 2024-2025 academic year. Like me, I trust you're greeting it with enthusiasm and positivity. I am entering my fifth year as UW president, and each new year presents the opportunity to refocus on our goals.

One theme you'll hear me speak frequently on in the coming year is how UW will continue to enhance its service to students and the state. This aligns with every objective of our Strategic Plan, but especially objectives 1 (Enhance Student Success), 2 (Pursue Institutional Excellence) and 4 (Engage with and Serve the State of Wyoming). From enhancing our strategies that maintain and grow enrollment to research collaborations to creating experiential learning opportunities that support our students and employers, we all have a role to play in helping our students succeed and serving the state of Wyoming.

One of the best parts of my job as [resident is engaging with you -- our great faculty and staff and talented students -- and I want to invite you to meet with me and your colleagues at the following events.

  • 17 from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Wyoming Union ballrooms: State of the University with a social hour in Pokes Pub to follow.
  • 30 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Union: Town Hall for Students.
  • 1 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Union East Ballroom: Town Hall for Faculty.
  • 4 from 10:30 a.m.-noon at Rendezvous Cafe: Coffee and Conversation.
  • 22 from 1-2 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room: Town Hall for Staff.
  • 9 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center: Holiday Open House.

Please come! I look forward to seeing you on campus soon!

Sincerely,

Ed Seidel, President
