Cassidy Votes Against Democrats’ Abhorrent Attempt to Undercut Israeli Security

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today voted against Democrat-led resolutions to block U.S. arms sales to Israel, which would undercut Israel's ability to defend itself.

"Israel's enemies desire to wipe them from the face of the earth," said Dr. Cassidy. "Limiting Israel's ability to defend itself helps its enemies. It certainly doesn't help Israel. The United States should stand with Israel."

Background

Cassidy and 47 Senate Republican colleagues protested the Biden-Harris administration's partial arms embargo against Israel. The senators urged the White House to cease accommodating Iran, stop jeopardizing the lives of American servicemembers, and to deliver the necessary weapons systems to Israel. He also introduced a resolution condemning any action by the Biden administration to withhold or restrict ammunition or weapons for Israel.

Last week, Cassidy introduced the Stand with Israel Act to cut off U.S. funding to United Nations (UN) agencies that expel, downgrade, suspend, or otherwise restrict Israel's participation.

Cassidy released a video statement on the one-year anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attacks that killed over a thousand Israelis and Americans. also joined U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) and the entire Republican Conference in introducing a resolution condemning Iran-backed Hamas for its actions, supporting the forever survival of Israel, and calling for the safe release of American hostages.
