A New Era for Fiscal Responsibility

For the past four years, the United States has faced unprecedented economic turmoil. Reckless spending has driven prices up and inflation has spiked to unsustainable levels. Americans are bearing the brunt of this fiscal irresponsibility every day, and they are demanding a change.

Fiscal responsibility is not just a buzzword-it is a guiding principle which affects every aspect of our lives. From the national debt to our individual financial security, how we manage our budget today will determine our economic health tomorrow. One of the key steps towards achieving this goal is to reduce wasteful spending.

Since 2021, our debt has increased by over 16%, equaling over $35.95 trillion. This is largely due to out-of-control spending, and it poses a significant threat to our economic stability. We cannot continue to borrow and spend without regard for the consequences, and as a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, I am a staunch advocate for policies that promote fiscal discipline, decrease our debt burden, and achieve a balanced budget.

It has been almost 25 years since the federal budget was balanced, and if we are to return to that practice, is imperative the federal government scrutinizes every dollar spent to ensure taxpayer dollars are used on programs effectively. This means making necessary cuts to bloated programs and implementing reforms that improve the efficiency of government operations. It is about making sure every dollar spent is a dollar well-invested in our nation's future and not on bloated programs that add to the problem.

The federal government must also aim to foster an economy that creates jobs and opportunities for all Americans. By creating policies that encourage entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment in our small businesses, we can stimulate economic growth and reduce the need for government assistance programs, which create a more prosperous society. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are crucial safety nets for millions of Americans, but they are currently on an unsustainable path. We must reform these programs to ensure they remain viable for future generations, and to do this, we must find ways to make them more efficient and cost-effective for recipients.

Finally, we must embrace transparency and accountability in government spending. The American people have a right to know how their tax dollars are being used, and as a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I have been working hard alongside my colleagues on the committee to enforce that transparency.

The United States is ready for a change, because our current spending initiatives are simply unaffordable and unsustainable. As your Representative, I remain committed to fighting for policies that promote responsible spending, reduce waste, and hold our federal government accountable. By doing so, we can create an economy that is strong for every American for generations to come.
