Denver Police Arrest Suspect in 1300 Block W. Colfax Avenue Homicide

Denver - Monday, November 18, 2024 - Today, the Denver Police Department announces the arrest of Deangelo Luarks (DOB: 11/12/84) for the homicide of a 31-year-old male, which occurred in the 1300 block of West Colfax Avenue on November 3, 2024.

At approximately 2:34 a.m., on Sunday, November 3, 2024, Denver Police officers responded to the 1300 block of West Colfax Avenue on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators identified Deangelo Luarks as the suspect. On November 15, 2024, during an unrelated investigation, Luarks was contacted and arrested for a warrant out of another jurisdiction, and he is currently being held for Investigation of First-Degree Murder related to this homicide. The findings of the investigation indicate Luarks and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to a shooting.

Per standard protocol, the final determination of charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney's Office. The Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim's identity and cause and manner of death.
