New School of Medicine podcast cuts through the noise on health science

The podcast is hosted by David Robert Grimes; a researcher with a long-standing focus on science communication and the public understanding of science.

David acts as a conduit between the experts and the audience, exploring the themes of each episode by engaging with the expert guests.

"We live in a time where social media is flooded with loud voices talking with confidence on things they clearly don't understand, spreading confusion and ultimately harming patients. Scientists and doctors have an important role to play in combatting dangerous fictions.

By exploring fascinating and sometimes difficult topics in a conversation with brilliant experts in the field, the School of Medicine aims to empower the public to cut through the noise on health science, and to share our passion for medical science with the world."

Science and medicine are so integral to our collective and societal well-being, but it can be daunting to even know where to start on certain topics, even when they are immensely important to society - and this is doubly so in the era of misinformation! The impetus for this podcast was to explore important themes, guided by knowledgeable experts to shed light on these issues, demystify concepts, and open up a public conversation that engages everyone.

David is just finished recording Season One and plans to release a new episode every week (with 5 already released). Wide-ranging themes such as the impact of climate change on human health, mysteries of the immune system, the future of medicine, how data is changing medical science, and even the weird history of body snatching and medical eccentrics, are explored.

David concluded:
