The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Officer Laurence V. Sheridan 87 Years Ago Today

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember Officer Laurence V. Sheridan who died 87 years ago today. On Wednesday July 28, 1937, Officer Sheridan succumbed to injuries he had sustained in the line of duty several months earlier after being assaulted by a prisoner.

Officer Sheridan was 38-years-old at the time of his death and was survived by his wife and their seven children.

Officer Sheridan was laid to rest at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. on Panel 40, West Line 13. His name is also forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.
