Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting - Alamitos Avenue and 5th Street - On July 27, 2024 at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers were flagged down in the area of Alamitos Avenue and 5th Street regarding a male adult with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers provided first aid to the victim until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported him to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. While officers were providing first aid to the victim, a second male adult victim self-transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower body. He is in stable condition. Preliminary investigation revealed both victims were at Junipero Lot when they were struck by gunfire by an unknown suspect. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. Casings were recovered. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Stabbing - 200 block of W. Broadway - On July 27, 2024 at approximately 9:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of W. Broadway regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a male adult suspect were engaged in a verbal dispute, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled on foot prior to officers' arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
