Washburn University will Celebrate Homecoming Oct. 28 – Nov. 2; Community is Invited

Topeka, Kan. -Washburn University will celebrate Homecoming Oct. 28 - Nov. 2 with a program of Washburn traditions for students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community. The Washburn Homecoming events showcase the Ichabod spirit and this year's theme is "Beware of the Bods."

"Homecoming is such a special part of the Washburn experience, and an exciting time that brings the Washburn and Topeka communities together," said Taylor Romanchek, senior and Homecoming fellow for Washburn University. "It's been rewarding to lead the Homecoming committee this year, particularly helping to bring back the parade and working on all the fun things for Scorch on the Porch."

Tuesday, Oct. 29

Washburn Black Student Union Blood Drive

Rising Stars Variety Show
- 6 - 8 p.m.
- Washburn Room, Memorial Union
- Washburn students will show their talents, whether that be singing, dancing or a comedy skit, etc. The committee will announce the Ichabods of Honor nominees during the Variety Show.
Volleyball vs. Northwest Missouri State University
- 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

Scorch on the Porch, Spooky Edition
- 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Memorial Union, Inside and on the Lawn
- Scorch on the Porch will feature spooky food options, pumpkin painting and putt-putt on the lawn.
Volleyball vs. Missouri Western State University
- 6 p.m.

Halloween Movie Night
- 7 - 9 p.m.
- Student Recreation and Wellness Center (The Rec)
- Student Life and the Campus Activities Board (CAB) invited Washburn students to a movie in The Rec's gym.

Thursday, Oct. 31

Yell Like Hell
- 7 p.m.
- Lee Arena
- In this Homecoming tradition, students, faculty and staff get pumped up for Homecoming tailgating and the football game! Athletic teams, sorority and fraternity groups and other student organizations will show us their moves in the name of school spirit.
"Carrie: The Musical" Opens
- 7:30 p.m.

Homecoming Food Truck Festival and Tailgating

- Memorial Union Lawn and around Yager Stadium
- Tailgating will be supercharged for Homecoming 2024 with a Food Truck Festival (Burger Bus, Saucy Wrap, Tods BBQ, El Zocalo, Manila Snow Cone, Poppin Squeeze and Pineapple Dream).

Homecoming Football Game
- 1 p.m.
- Yager Stadium
- Washburn University will take on the University of Nebraska at Kearney for their Homecoming game. Ichabods of Honor winners announced during halftime. Homecoming Grand Champion announced during the 3rd quarter
