Department of Elections
City and County of San Francisco
John Arntz, Director
For Immediate Release
SAN FRANCISCO, Monday, November 4, 2024 - Between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, the Department of Elections will offer voting and ballot drop-off services at 501 polling places across San Francisco.
"In every election, we work alongside community partners who step forward to support our city's elections," said Director John Arntz. "Our partners include schools, firehouses, community centers, local businesses, and residents who volunteer their garages and other spaces as polling sites. This community collaboration ensures that San Francisco voters have convenient access to voting options close to home. On Election Day, our 501 sites will be open to all, whether people need to return their vote-by-mail ballots, cast a poll ballot, receive language assistance, or use accessible voting tools."
Each polling site will offer ballots listing contests specific to that precinct. While any registered voter in San Francisco may cast a provisional ballot at any city polling place, only contests relevant to a voter's residential address will be counted. Voters planning to vote in person on Election Day can locate their designated polling place by:
Earlier this month, the Department mailed multilingual notices to inform voters of any polling place changes. Multilingual signs will also be posted on Election Day at all former polling locations, displaying the address of the new voting site in multiple languages, with a QR code for easy access to location details.
The Department extends its gratitude to all community partners and residents who make each election possible. From volunteering space to serving as poll workers on Election Day, their contributions play an integral role in supporting in-person voting process.
