On November 29, 2024, just before 8:00 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Northgate Boulevard and Turnstone Drive for reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Responding officers located the victim, an adult female, suffering from serious injuries. Officers provided emergency medical aid to the victim until relieved by Sacramento Fire Department personnel. Despite these efforts, the victim was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
Due to the circumstances, detectives from the Major Collision Investigations Unit and crime scene investigators responded to the scene. They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. During their investigation, the involved driver, 50-year-old Jose Guizar Diaz, was found to be driving under the influence. He was transported and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for charges related to Driving Under the Influence.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
