Mayor's statement

On Tuesday afternoon, the City of Renton was made aware of a traffic accident in downtown Renton in which a pedestrian was struck and sustained injuries requiring transport to Harborview Medical Center. The pedestrian was identified as Kim Unti, the acting Executive Director of the Renton Downtown Partnership, a non-profit subset of the City of Renton's Economic Development Department. On Thursday, November 28, Ms. Unti passed away from her injuries.

We are incredibly saddened by Ms. Unti's loss. Our deep sympathy and condolences are with her family at this time. She was a vibrant, long-time member of our Renton community and a champion for downtown. She will be missed greatly and has made an impact on our city that we all will remember. The Renton Police Department is currently conducting an investigation of the circumstances surrounding the accident and will provide an update when available.
