2023 Crop and Livestock Report Update

​During her presentation of the 2023 Sacramento County Crop and Livestock Reports at the Oct. 8 Board of Supervisors Meeting, Agriculture Commissioner, Chris Flores reported that the gross production value of all agricultural commodities in Sacramento County was more than $584 million!

With a more than 8% increase from 2022, wine grapes were once again the leading cash crop in Sacramento County, with a value of more than $204 million, or nearly 25% of the total gross value of all crops.

Pears snuck in to the number two spot with a total value of more than $55 million, passing up market milk, which came in at number three with a total value of more than $46 million.

"With its rich agricultural diversity, the region is home to farms, ranches, orchards and vineyards that produce an array of crops like rice, tomatoes, pears and grapes, alongside thriving dairy, livestock and aquaculture sectors."​​

The 2023 report
includes information regarding the Agriculture Department's Pest Detection and Pest Exclusion Programs, the Phytosanitary Program, the Pesticide Use Enforcement Program and their Weights & Measures Program. The report also contains a simple and elegant 2025 calendar.
