The South Wales Police & Crime Panel meet Ms Emma Wools, the new South Wales Police & Crime Commissioner

The South Wales Police and Crime Panel hosted and administered by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council had the pleasure of meeting Emma Wools for the first time since her election to the position of South Wales Police & Crime Commissioner.

Ms Wools, who had previously occupied the role as Deputy Commissioner to Mr Alun Michael advised the Panel that her focus as Commissioner will be upon community policing, preventing crime, protecting the vulnerable, supporting victims and communities, delivering justice on those who commit crime, reducing reoffending and making policing fit for the future.

The South Wales Police and Crime Panel is comprised of two independent members and 10 democratically elected local council members, drawn from the seven local authorities that make up the South Wales Police area. The Panel meets five times a year to review or scrutinise decisions made by the Commissioner in connection with the discharge of her functions.
