Upcoming Informational Workshop on W. M. Keck Foundation Funding

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations in University Advancement and the Office of Research Development in the Division of Research and Innovation will be co-hosting an informational workshop on the Keck Research Program from 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, in 452-453 Mullins Library.

The Keck Research Program seeks to benefit humanity by supporting medical research and science and engineering projects that are distinctive and novel in their approach, question the prevailing paradigm, or have the potential to break open new territory in their field.

Past Keck Research Program grants have been awarded to major universities, independent research institutions, and medical schools to support pioneering biological and physical science research and engineering, including the development of promising new technologies, instrumentation or methodologies. Grants range from $1 million to $5 million and are typically $2 million or less.

Please see Keck's grant abstracts for examples of funded projects.

Julie Olsen, Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, will present an overview of the Keck Research Program. Molly Throgmorton, associate director for research development, will share examples of successful project abstracts and go over the limited submission process for the Keck Research Program on campus. The session will also include a question-and-answer session at the end.

Attendees are encouraged to come with ideas for novel, groundbreaking medical and/or science and engineering research projects and be prepared to discuss opportunities for collaboration. Attendees will also have the opportunity to register for a pitch session to present their ideas to an internal review panel. Pitch session dates will be announced at the workshop.

RSVP for the in-person event.
