Pedestrian Improvement Project in the City of Hermitage, Mercer County to Begin Soon

09/12/2024

A $1.6 million project to extend the sidewalk and make other pedestrian improvements in the City of Hermitage, Mercer County is scheduled to begin next month.

Work will include the installation of new concrete sidewalk on State Street (Route 3008) from the intersection with Buhl Boulevard to the intersection with Route 18. Additional work will also include sign updates and pavement markings.

Tentatively work is scheduled to start near Buhl Boulevard on September 16, 2024, weather permitting, and be completed in July 2025.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers and should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions. Drivers should anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

Access to all driveways will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Drivers should expect to encounter temporary traffic control devices at driveways.

The contractor is M&B Services of Clarion, PA. The contract cost is $1,651,114.71, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.

This year PennDOT's Northwest Region expects to do work on more than 100 projects. To see a full listing of all the anticipated work, check out the 2024 Construction Book located under the Resources tab online at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.
