Officers Track Stolen Laptop and Arrest B&E Suspect

At about 12:22 PM, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) and District A-1 (Downtown) arrested Tyrone Saunders, 60, of Chelsea, on breaking and entering charges.

Officers responded to the area of 57 Chandler Street for a report of a breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, officers observed the front door lock to be broken and items scattered throughout the apartment.

The victim advised officers that his laptop's location was visible on his find my devices app on his cell phone. The victim stated that the laptop was pinging in the area of Downtown Crossing. Detectives were able to disseminate a photo of the suspect and broadcasted a description.

District A-1 officers located a suspect matching the description with a suitcase in the area of 1 Franklin Street. Officers placed the suspect into handcuffs and recovered the stolen laptop inside the suitcase as well as miscellaneous jewelry, and approximately $140 in US currency. Officers also recovered a folder paper bill with loose cocaine. The stolen items were promptly returned to the victim.

Saunders was placed under arrest and charged with Breaking and Entering Daytime for Felony, Receiving Stolen Property over $1,200, Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,200, Common and Notorious Thief, and Possession of Class B. Officers also determined that the suspect had two active warrants. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
