Suspect Arrested and a Firearm Recovered After a Shot Spotter Activation

At about 9:59 PM, on Wednesday September 4, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Princess Garcia, 18, of Lynn, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 41 Walnut Park for a Shot Spotter activation. Officers observed a motor vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed and fail to stop at the red light at the intersection of Townsend Street and Walnut Avenue.

Officers immediately activated their cruiser's emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop on Walnut Avenue. As officers exited their cruiser and approached on foot, vehicle accelerated and fled the scene.

Officers broadcasted a description of the vehicle, and were able to locate it near Columbia Road. With the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police, officers were able to stop the vehicle before the 93 South exit.

Officers requested all three occupants to exit the vehicle, and they were all placed into handcuffs. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the occupants and recovered a firearm from operator.

The firearm was later determined to be a 380 Auto with six rounds in the magazine. The firearm's serial number was also obliterated.

Garcia was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Defacement of a Firearm Serial Number, Leaving the Scene of Property Damage, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Fail to Stop for Police. She is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
