Operation Hard Hat detail in Essex County

On September 10, 2024, New York State Police issued 36 tickets in Essex County during an "Operation Hard Hat" detail.

On September 10, 2024, Troopers monitored traffic on Interstate 87 in the town of North Hudson while road crews were conducting work. During the detail, Troopers blend in with the workers and watches for unsafe behavior.

36 tickets were issued:

• Speeds-9
• Cell phone- 2
• Seat Belt-6
• Other moving-8
• Other non-moving- 11

Motorist are reminded to drive responsibly in work zones. Make sure to follow the postage signage and put down any distractions. Slow down, move over to another lane when it is safe to do so. Everyone working on the side of the roadways deserve to get back home safe.
