Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8300 North Freeway

July 25, 2024- Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 8300 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 4:45 a.m. today (July 25).

The identity of the deceased male, 48, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Riley reported:

The drivers of a white Dodge van, a silver Toyota Highlander, and a maroon Toyota Sequoia were stopped on the northbound lanes of the freeway after having been involved in a crash. The driver of a silver Ford Explorer, also traveling northbound on the freeway, then struck the rear of the Toyota Sequoia and pinned the victim between the Toyota Highlander and Toyota Sequoia. A silver Chevrolet Malibu then struck the side of the Toyota Sequoia and a black Chevrolet Malibu. A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck also struck the rear of the black Malibu.

The driver of the Toyota Highlander was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

The drivers of all vehicles involved remained at the scene. They did not show signs of intoxication and were questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
