Published on September 09, 2024

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that southbound 56th Street at Leighton Avenue will close at 8 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, to continue work on a Lincoln on the Move street improvement project. Northbound 56th Street at Leighton Avenue will reopen at that time. This work is scheduled to be completed by September 15.

The recommended detour is Adams Street to 48th Street to Holdrege Street.

Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around this closure. LTU appreciates the public's patience during this closure and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Lincoln on the Move is a six-year, quarter-cent sales tax street investment effort focused on enhancing Lincoln's street infrastructure that will dedicate an additional $100 million to street projects in Lincoln through 2025.
