MATSUI STATEMENT ON PRIME MINISTER NETANYAHU’S ADDRESS TO CONGRESS

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07), released the following statement on her decision to not attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress.

"I have been a longtime friend to Israel and will continue to be a steadfast supporter of the Israeli people. However, I will not attend today's joint address by Prime Minister Netanyahu out of significant disagreements with the way his government has conducted the war.

"Instead, I spent time with the loved ones of people taken by Hamas. It fortified my belief that we must secure an immediate ceasefire that ensures the return of all hostages and addresses the devastating humanitarian crisis for the Palestinian people. My priority continues to be finding a path towards a future where Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side with peace and dignity - and that should be the Prime Minister's focus as well."
