STATEMENT: Michigan Dems Chair Applauds Budget Signing, Condemns Republican Opposition

Michigan Dems are once again delivering a brighter future for Michigan

LANSING - Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a bipartisan, balanced budget that will keep communities safe, lower costs, and support countless Michiganders' health. This budget invests billions into communities across the state to grow the economy and ensure that all families can make it in Michigan.

"This budget is a huge success for working families that will make an impact for generations to come," said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. "With her signature, Governor Whitmer is building on the historic progress of last year's budget to keep delivering real change for Michiganders, putting money back in their pockets and into their communities. Whether it's supporting local businesses, building more affordable housing, or hiring and training more police, fire, and EMTs, Michigan Dems are proud to champion this crucial work.

"It's disappointing, but not surprising, that too many of the MAGA MIGOP members in the legislature opposed this life-changing legislation. Time and time again, they have put their radical agenda ahead of their constituents because they simply don't care about serving the needs of Michiganders. This state, and everyone in it, deserves better than extremists who apparently can't even be bothered to deliver on kitchen table issues for working families."
