Nampa Library hosts tenth annual Christmas at the Library, Dec. 14

The Nampa Public Library will host the tenth annual "Christmas at the Library" on Saturday, Dec. 14.

At 10:15 a.m. Fire Choir will perform in the lobby. Fire Choir is a non-audition group of 4th and 5th grade students from Idaho Arts Charter School who love to sing and perform. Their purpose is to bring back the joy and fun of performing and to celebrate the mystery and mischief that inspires us all during the holiday season.

At 11:00 a.m. the Encore Carolers will perform. Now in their 22nd year as the Treasure Valley's premiere Christmas vocal ensemble, the Carolers bring a joy to the season that reminds listeners of family, friends and hope.

Beginning at noon, Harvey Phillips TubaChristmas will perform in the lobby. Up to 35 tuba and euphonium players will gather to play Christmas music and celebrate the season. TubaChristmas has become an established Christmas tradition in cities throughout the world. Since its first performance, TubaChristmas has attracted hundreds of performers and audiences of all ages. The warm, rich, organ-like sound of this low brass choir has won the ears and hearts of every audience.

At 12:30 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive and will be greeting children until 2:30 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to meet Santa and take a photo with him and Mrs. Claus.

At 1:30 p.m. ELRO will perform in the lobby. Idaho Arts Charter School's Premier Ensemble merges two words together by combining a classical-style string orchestra with a conventional rock band, creating the Electric Rock Orchestra. This groundbreaking combination arranges rock, classic rock, pop, and classical music for a unique ensemble.

Enjoy refreshments, simple crafts, and Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" audio drama that was filmed and performed by Nampa Library staff. A huge thank you to the Friends of the Nampa Public Library, Idaho Central Credit Union, and Albertsons for sponsoring this event.
