By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Family Engagement in Education Month
WHEREAS, parents should sit at the head of the table in their child's education journey; and
WHEREAS, family engagement is critical to ensuring a strong home-to-school relationship spanning pre-k to post-secondary education; and
WHEREAS, families are essential partners to our teachers in the understanding of learning pathways for students that promote growth, proficiency, and enthusiasm for learning; and
WHEREAS, a strong family-to-school partnership is essential now to enable and revitalize student achievement, which has significantly declined below pre-pandemic levels; and
WHEREAS, positive relationships between families and schools strengthen student outcomes and the communities in which our children live; and
WHEREAS, families, teachers, and schools must commit to ensure that their students attend school every day; and
WHEREAS, schools, school divisions, and school boards are committed to providing necessary and accurate data about students, teachers, and schools to guide and advise parents on the best options for their students; and
WHEREAS, family engagement teams across the Commonwealth ensure parents are active partners in their children's education;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize November 2024, as FAMILY ENGAGEMENT IN EDUCATION MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
