Veterans and Military Families Month

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Veterans and Military Families Month

WHEREAS, November is National Veterans and Military Families Month; and

WHEREAS, Virginia is home to over 676,000 veterans and their families; and

WHEREAS, more than 180,000 active-duty service members, reservists, and members of the Virginia National Guard, along with more than 74,000 military spouses, are stationed in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia has more than 79,000 military children in Virginia public schools; and

WHEREAS, we recognize and honor our veterans and the military families who serve alongside the members of our armed forces as they protect our country from harm; and

WHEREAS, we respect and acknowledge the daily sacrifices of veterans and military families and the extraordinary contributions they make to the nation, to the Commonwealth, and to their communities; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia calls upon all its citizens to show their support for veterans and military families during the month of November;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize November 2024, as VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIES MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
